Somehow we’ve already made it three weeks into the new year (seriously, wasn’t it just Christmas?!) and while that means this means that 2017 is off to a lightning start, it also means another foodie holiday is looming on the horizon:
Now, I know what you must be thinking. “But Chrisy, Valentine’s day is a love holiday, not a foodie holiday!”
And… you’re totally right. Valentine’s day is all about the love. You and I are totally on the same page with that one.
However, what I’m talking about is the most common gift that’s given on this “day of love.” You know, outside of greeting cards or stuffed animals or all-paid trips to Disney World (hint, hint).
No, the gift I’m talking about is food. Delicious (and usually sweet) food.
We all know there are tons of options for Valentine’s day treats, but you know what my absolute favorite is? Red velvet. Not only is the color absolutely beautiful, but you can make almost anything red velvet, from donuts to french toast to cocktails. If it can be chocolate then it can totally (and should!) get the red velvet treatment.
And after nearly ten years of being together, an old friend of mine knows this about me. We don’t normally do a lot for each other during the holidays (we’re more of the “celebrate every day” type), but when he does do something special, he almost always picks me up something red velvet.
