About Berry Cherry Sangria
With the weather we’ve been dealing with lately, this sangria with cherries has quickly become my new best friend.
Because honestly, what better way is there to take the edge off this heat than with a deliciously fruity red wine sangria?
It’s been far too long since I whipped up a sangria, and this week has me wondering why I’ve been holding out. With temperatures roaring up to 120 F here in Phoenix, you need something to help pass the time until the sun sets. Or, better yet, something to enjoy when it’s finally safe to go outside.
So whether I’m binge watching Netflix in the AC or I’m sitting on the porch and watching the dogs play in the fading light, I plan to always have a big glass of this in my hand.
Another thing I love about this sangria?
Not only is it perfect for the summer months with all the fresh berries, but it would also be a great hit for the winter months. Cherries are great all year around, but they’re also a great festive fruit.
So if you need me for the rest of the summer, I’ll be lost in the bottom of this pitcher in the best possible way.
And, okay, maybe The Husband will get a glass or two, too.
Stay cool and drink responsibly everyone!
notes & tips for this cherry sangria recipe
- If you’re struggling to decide what red wine to use with this sangria with cherries, I totally understand. I agonized over this as well. In fact, I still have a few red wines I want to try before I settle on what the “best” one would be for this recipe and ones like it. However, if you’re looking for some resources to set you on the right path, check out this list of The 5 Best Red Wines for Sangria. They do suggest using a wine made with Garnacha grapes, though I had to go to an actual alcohol store to track down a bottle. If you can find a wine made with Garnacha with cherry undertones, then snap it up!
- I couldn’t find the pitcher I used for the photos online, but in my searches, I simply fell in love with this sangria pitcher set. It’s on my Christmas list!
- If you’d something more simple, this stemless wine glasses can be used for any drink recipe and will look just as classy.

Chill sangria for at least two hours before serving. If you waited to add the lemon-lime soda, add it to the pitcher and gently stir before pouring.
