  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts – The star of the show! You can use chicken breasts or chicken thighs. Use whatever size chicken breast or thigh you’d like, but keep in mind that the size will impact the cooking time.
  • Bacon – Because bacon. It makes everything better. Feel free to use whatever flavor of bacon that you’d like (smoked, spicy, etc) but do not use thick cut. This recipe is balanced so that the chicken and bacon will cook at about the same rate; thick cut bacon would take too long, leaving you with either soft bacon or dry chicken.
  • Light brown sugar – The namesake of this recipe that gives this chicken its sweet and savory vibe.
  • Garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, pepper, and cayenne – Delicious seasonings to enhance the flavor of this dish.

  • Grab a baking sheet and spray it with cooking spray. You can also line the sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Arrange chilled/thawed chicken on the baking sheet, spaced about one inch apart.
  • Reheat the chicken for about 15 or until the internal temperature is at least 165 degrees F.

  • Cooking times may vary depending on how large the chicken breasts are. To ensure you’ve cooked your chicken to the recommended 165 degrees F, make sure you have a thermometer. If the chicken breasts are on the smaller side, begin checking the temperature at the 25-minute mark.
  • Using two 9×13 baking dishes (and spacing the chicken out within them) is recommended so that the bacon has enough room to crisp. But if you have a baking dish that can comfortably fit all six chicken breasts and still leave room between them, feel free to use that instead.
  • When serving this dish, feel free to spoon some of the cooking liquid from the baking dish onto the chicken. It’s like a sweet au jus bacon gravy!

Step 1 – In a large, shallow bowl, whisk together the following ingredients: brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.

Step 2 – Thoroughly coat the chicken breasts in the brown sugar mixture, using your fingers to press it onto the chicken.

Step 3 – Wrap each piece of chicken with two slices of bacon, then place the wrapped chicken in two 9×13 baking dishes sprayed with cooking spray. Be sure to tuck the ends of the bacon under the chicken and space the chicken out so that they’re not touching.

Step 4 – Sprinkle any of the remaining brown sugar mixture evenly over the chicken.

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray 2 9×13 baking dishes with cooking spray, then set aside.
  • In a large, shallow bowl, whisk together brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
    3/4 cup light brown sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • Add chicken breasts to bowl then gently toss to coat, pressing brown sugar mixture onto chicken so that it sticks. Place chicken in prepared baking dishes (3 pieces of chicken in each dish.)
    6 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Wrap each piece of chicken with two slices of bacon, making sure to tuck ends of bacon underneath chicken. Arrange wrapped chicken in dishes so that they are not touching.

  • Sprinkle any remaining brown sugar mixture evenly on top of wrapped chicken.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes or until bacon is browned and chicken has an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. If chicken is done but bacon is not cooked to your liking, set oven to broil and bake until desired doneness is reached. If doing this, watch carefully so that it doesn't burn.
  • Serve immediately with fresh chopped parsley as garnish (optional).
