About Brown Sugar Bacon Wrapped Chicken
Whether you need a quick meal for a weeknight dinner or want to serve up something special for a date night at home, this sweet-and-savory brown sugar bacon wrapped chicken is a perfect meal for any occasion.
What’s in brown sugar bacon wrapped chicken?
Before you can serve up this sweet and savory chicken dinner, you’ll need to collect the following ingredients:
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts – The star of the show! You can use chicken breasts or chicken thighs. Use whatever size chicken breast or thigh you’d like, but keep in mind that the size will impact the cooking time.
- Bacon – Because bacon. It makes everything better. Feel free to use whatever flavor of bacon that you’d like (smoked, spicy, etc) but do not use thick cut. This recipe is balanced so that the chicken and bacon will cook at about the same rate; thick cut bacon would take too long, leaving you with either soft bacon or dry chicken.
- Light brown sugar – The namesake of this recipe that gives this chicken its sweet and savory vibe.
- Garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, pepper, and cayenne – Delicious seasonings to enhance the flavor of this dish.
- Fresh parsley – Totally optional but gives this dish a vibrant garnish.
How long is bacon wrapped chicken good for?
Once prepared and cooled, this dish can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Can you freeze this dish?
Yes, you totally can!
Once prepared and cooled, brown sugar bacon wrapped chicken can be stored in a sealed container or freezer bag for up to three months.
How do you reheat chicken?
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Grab a baking sheet and spray it with cooking spray. You can also line the sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Arrange chilled/thawed chicken on the baking sheet, spaced about one inch apart.
- Reheat the chicken for about 15 or until the internal temperature is at least 165 degrees F.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes & tips for bacon wrapped chicken
- Cooking times may vary depending on how large the chicken breasts are. To ensure you’ve cooked your chicken to the recommended 165 degrees F, make sure you have a thermometer. If the chicken breasts are on the smaller side, begin checking the temperature at the 25-minute mark.
- Using two 9×13 baking dishes (and spacing the chicken out within them) is recommended so that the bacon has enough room to crisp. But if you have a baking dish that can comfortably fit all six chicken breasts and still leave room between them, feel free to use that instead.
- When serving this dish, feel free to spoon some of the cooking liquid from the baking dish onto the chicken. It’s like a sweet au jus bacon gravy!
