About Very Cherry Moscow Mule

I know, I know, here I am with another drink recipe for you.

But what can I say?

The holidays have me feeling festive.

And by festive, I mean the desire to be tipsy after 5 PM on a fairly regular basis.

Between the cold weather and all the get-togethers we’ve been having as of late, life just seems a little more jolly with a glass of firewater in my hand.

This is typical for me this time of year, and I usually I stick to what I know – like a few choice wines or the occasional mixed drink – but this year I’ve really been trying to expand my drink selections.

For example, I made an Orange Creamsicle Cocktail a few weeks ago.

And did you see the Chocolate Cream Pie Martini?

I’ve also been stepping out of my comfort zone and ordering the most popular drinks available at a restaurant, no matter what it is, and that is how I stumbled across the amazingness (a word? Sure, why not!) that is a Moscow Mule.

The Moscow Mule seems to be all the rage this year, and Longhorn Steakhouse has a few tasty selections on their menu right now.

I ordered one of them on a whim and absolutely fell in love with it, so much so that I made it my super nerdy foodie quest goal to make the drink at home, complete with the stylish copper mugs that do such a perfect job of keeping your drink chilly.

Want a set of these mugs? You can pick up a nearly identical set of copper mugs off of Amazon.

However, I did want to spice the drink up a bit – for no particular reason other than I just like fruity drinks – and that is where the cherry flavoring comes from.

Moscow mules are perfect on their own, but when you add sweet cherry flavoring?

It really kicks it up a notch.

Plus, I’ll take any excuse to dunk cherries in my drink eat maraschino cherries off a toothpick all classy-like.

So here’s to the holidays!

My the drinks (and the foods and the presents and the good times) be ever in your favor!

This recipe is my an old friend of mine and daughter’s favorite! I love it too, and I get asked to make it frequently. It’s a great pool beverage!

    • Jessie

Just came across this, looks delicious! Is there any reason why mixing everything ahead in a pitcher wouldn’t work?

    • Hey, Jessie! You could serve this in a pitcher, but ginger beer is carbonated, and sitting in a pitcher might lead to the beer going flat before it’s served.

    1) nice recipe
    2) do you muddle in the cherries at the beginning?
    3) only 1 ounce of vodka? 😉
    4) loved your Q ginger beer call…check out Fever Tree if you haven’t yet. Its a must.
    5) I bet this would be just as delicious is you swapped rum with vodka.

    We’ll have to give this a rip soon… 🙂

Keep up the good work Chrisy.

There’s expanding data towards the immuno defensive anti-malignant attributes of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) which happens in highest levels in dairy from grass-fed cows.
