Yield
24 onion rings
Time
40 minutes
These baked onion rings are coated in a seasoned cornflake breading (no flour!) and cooked in the oven until tender on the inside and crisp on the outside.
‣ 1 1/2 cup crushed cornflakes ‣ 2 teaspoon granulated sugar ‣ 1 teaspoon paprika ‣ 1/4 teaspoon accent salt ‣ 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt ‣ 3 large sweet onion ‣ 2 egg
1
In a large bowl, add crushed cornflakes, sugar, paprika, accent salt, and garlic salt. Use a whisk or fork to thoroughly mix all of the ingredients together. Once mixed, set the bowl nearby.
2
Take a sliced onion and dip it in a bowl of beaten eggs. I like to use a fork to flip the onion a few times, making sure all sides are coated.
3
Transfer the egg-coated onion to the bowl of breading mix, then toss to coat. Just like with the egg, I like to use a fork to flip the onion and toss the breading on the inside and outside of the onion ring.
4
Arrange the onion rings on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Once done, bake them until tender.
