‣ 15 ounce white cake mix, (1 box), divided ‣ 1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips ‣ 3/4 cup water ‣ 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled ‣ 3 eggs, large ‣ 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice ‣ 1 cup pumpkin puree ‣ frosting and sprinkles
Toss the remaining cake mix, water, melted butter, eggs, and pumpkin pie spice into a large bowl (or a stand mixer). Mix everything together until the dry ingredients are incorporated.
Add the pumpkin puree to the batter, then mix it again until incorporated.
Finish up by adding the coated chocolate chips to the batter, then gently fold them into the batter.
Spray a standard cupcake pan with cooking spray, then fill it with cupcake liners. Pour the batter into the prepared cups, filling them about 3/4 of the way.
