A simple recipe for a take-out classic, this slow cooker bourbon chicken is flavored with soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, apple, and bourbon whiskey.

INGREDIENTS

‣ 1/3 cup apple juice ‣ 1/4 cup green onion, chopped, plus more for garnish (optional) ‣ 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed ‣ 1/4 cup ketchup ‣ 1/4 cup water ‣ 1/4 cup bourbon ‣ 1/4 cup soy sauce ‣ 3 tablespoon cornstarch ‣ 2 tablespoon honey ‣ 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar ‣ 1 tablespoon fresh garlic, minced ‣ 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes ‣ 1/4 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated ‣ 1 pinch salt, to taste ‣ 1 pinch black pepper, to taste ‣ 3 pound chicken breast, cut into bite sized pieces

Start off by adding all of the ingredients to a bowl (cornstarch, green onion, ground ginger, garlic, red pepper flakes, apple juice, honey, light brown sugar, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, water, bourbon, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper) and whisk them up until the sauce is smooth.

MAKE THE SAUCE

Place the cut chicken into the bottom of a crock pot.

ADD THE CHICKEN

Pour the sauce on top and give it a quick stir. Once done, cover and cook!
