‣ 8 1/2 cup Rice Krispies cereal ‣ 16 ounce mini marshmallows, divided ‣ 1/2 cup salted butter ‣ 14 ounce sweetened condensed milk ‣ 20 soft caramels, unwrapped ‣ 3/4 teaspoon salt ‣ 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract ‣ caramel sauce, for topping (optional) ‣ flaky sea salt, for topping (optional)
In a stockpot, melt the butter and mix in the sweetened condensed milk.
Add the caramels and vanilla to the stockpot, then stir until melted and thoroughly mixed.
Add some of the mini marshmallows, then stir until melted and thoroughly mixed.
Pour in the Rice Krispies cereal and the remaining mini marshmallows, then mix well.
Add the Rice Krispies treat mixture to a parchment paper or aluminum foil lined 9x13 baking dish. Use a piece of parchment paper to gently press down so everything is an even layer.
