‣ 8 cup water, divided ‣ 8 black tea bags ‣ 1 teaspoon baking soda ‣ 4 cup strawberries, chopped, plus more for garnish (optional) ‣ 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, bring 2 cups water to a boil. Remove saucepan from heat and add tea bags. Let steep for 5 minutes.
Pour tea into a large pitcher, then add 4 cups of water and baking soda. Set pitcher aside for now.
In the same medium saucepan, add the remaining 2 cups of water, strawberries, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer. Allow mixture to cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Strain strawberry syrup through a mesh strainer into a medium bowl, then pour strawberry syrup into the pitcher with brewed tea and mix well.
